WINE TASTING IN GHEMME
This well-known producer of DOCG wines has 15 hectares planted to vines across the Colline Novarese hillsides and cellars located in the fourteenth century castle-shelter in the historical center of the ancient town of Ghemme. The visit starts with a tour of the castle’s narrow lanes and charming courtyards  to see the various stages of production, and ends with a tasting of their wines paired with local salami and sausages and the area’s famous  Gorgonzola cheese.
WINE TASTING IN BAROLO
The centuries’ old Marchesi di Barolo cellars are located in the historical center, opposite the castle at the other end of the village.  Production dates back over  200 years and the winery has won numerous awards and accolades for their internationally-recognized Barolo DOCG as well as other wines in their portfolio. The tour of the cellars is followed by a tasting of their best wines, paired with typical products of the Langhe.
WIMU – BAROLO’S WINE MUSEUM
Located in the historical center of the famous town of Barolo is WIMU, the most innovative wine museum in Italy and among the most important in the world. Covering 5 floors of the ancient Falletti castle and inaugurated in 2010, the multimedia tour offers an up-close look into the fascinating world of wine and is an experience not-to-be missed.
WINE AND LOCAL PRODUCTS OF THE VAL D’OSSOLA
The renowned Garrone cellars are located in the ancient village of Oira, near Domodossola, in an old stone house that dates back to 1598. Acclaimed local wines such as Prunent, Tarlap and Nouv Bruschett are produced and aged here in the family-owned and run winery. In the tasting room the wines are paired with typical products of the valley: the famous Bettelmatt cheese, smoked ham from the Vigezzo Valley, traditional rye bread from Coimo as well as delicious local honeys. A brief tour of the village includes the centuries’ old restored communal cellar used for aging cheese.
RICE PRODUCTION
Tenuta Castello, near Casalbeltrame, in Desana, in the province of Vercelli, has been in operation since 1833. Located  in the middle of the largest agricultural area in Europe dedicated to the cultivation of rice, the farm extends over 320 hectares, of which 250 are planted with this important traditional crop. Every stage of production is directly managed by the owners, from planting to harvesting to processing the numerous varieties grown here, including Carnaroli, Vialone Nano, Arborio, Black Venere and red rice. The castle, with its long history and beautiful park, is open to visitors, and guided tours explain the methods of cultivation and the production process. The estate’s themed restaurant offers tasting menus featuring local rice-based specialties prepared with their own products .

We can arrange  a Gastronomic and cooking class lake maggiore combined with wine tasting.

WINE TOUR ITINERARY

In the afternoon (or in the morning) we meet at your hotel. Transfer by car or by coach to Ghemme. Visit to a wine cellar. Wine and food tasting. Stroll around the ancient buildings of Ricetto or Ghemme. Return to your hotel.Half an hour’s drive from Stresa, Lake Maggiore and Lake Orta is a hilly area covered by vineyards, renowned for the production of a fine Piemonte wine called Ghemme which takes its name from one of the two towns where it is produced (the other one is Romagnano Sesia). Other good wines produced in this area are Sizzano, Fara, Boca. It’s possible to organize a half-day trip to visit a wine cellar  where you will be shown the whole wine-making process. After seeing all the steps  involved in wine production you can get a taste of a selection of wines along with a  sampling of local cheese (like the celebrated Gorgonzola cheese) and salami. The old part of Ghemme itself is worth a visit. It’s called Ricetto, a word that is evocative of the Middle Ages and refers to a group of fortified houses that were originally built between the 11th and the 15th centuries. At that time the small village was surrounded by a defensive wall and a moat. The Ricetto was used to store food supplies and wine and occasionally as a shelter for men and animals.
