Incentives programs on the Piedmont lakes: art, culture, villas and gardens
Some of the most enchanting gardens of Europe lay on the territory of Lake Maggiore, together with many ancient villas, property of the aristocratic families who lived here in the past. Today the Elegant Villa Fedora in Baveno is the headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce. Villa Giulia in Verbania hosts art exhibitions and international events, while Villa Taranto is the third most important English-style garden in the world.
Isola Bella, with its majestic Baroque palace, hosts Italian-style gardens, 37 metres high, set on ten climbing terraces. The English gardens on Isola Madre were created in the first years of 1800 with spectacular bloomings, rare subtropical plants, but also peacocks, parrots and pheasants.
Moving to Lake Orta, amongst the others, we can admire Villa Nigra in the Miasino hills, and Villa Bossi in Orta San Giulio.
The island of St. Julius, facing the town of Orta, hosts a striking Romanesque Basilica and the well known Villa Tallone, where prestigious concerts of classical music are held every year.
